When I lived in Navasota we started with annual birthday parties at Washington on the Brazos State Park. Cupcakes looked like bluebonnets and the hills were rife with flowers, bluebonnets, indian paint brush and others of many colors.
Even before I moved to Smith County a Spring trip to Mrs. Lee's Daffodil Garden was on the calendar. Mrs. Lee planted over a railcar load of daffodil bulbs on more than six lovely acres many years ago and although she has gone on, her trust keeps the gardens open for viewing each Spring.
Last Saturday we set out on our chores and views and right around the corner on our country road we were greeted by two bright coral bushes against a white building. Kyndall said "look Gramma, they're the same color as my hat, partly pink and partly orange. Luckily a lady was standing nearby so we asked her about the bushes. She said, "they're my brothers and I think they are called Flowering Quince." We took a couple pictures and that's when Kyndall said, "we should start our blog with a flower of the day and today's flower is Flowering Quince.
So begins our Spring 2014 Blog ... with our flower of the day, Flowering Quince.
There will be more!
